Project Cheetah review meeting chaired by Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav assessed progress of wildlife restoration initiative.
Current cheetah population stands at 53 animals including 33 Indian-born cubs with survival rates meeting global benchmarks.
Program expanded from 20 cheetahs from Namibia/South Africa to include 9 additional cheetahs from Botswana through international cooperation.
Future plans include expansion to new sites like Banni grasslands and Nauradehi Wildlife Sanctuary with continued translocations for genetic diversity.
