Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh addressed personnel at Air Force Station Bagdogra, West Bengal, on November 7, 2026, emphasizing the need for the Defence Forces to maintain the highest level of operational readiness against emerging security threats. He identified the increasingly complex security landscape encompassing asymmetric warfare, proxy wars, cyber-attacks, drone swarms, information operations, and narrative management, noting that adversaries often avoid direct confrontation to exploit vulnerabilities through social media and misleading information.

Singh described Bagdogra as a strategically important region and crucial link in India's security framework, particularly for the North-Eastern region, commending the Air Warriors as a robust shield for eastern sector security. He stressed that discipline and courage remain indispensable despite technological advancements and urged personnel to strengthen engagement with local communities to counter adversary conspiracies.

The Raksha Mantri reaffirmed the government's commitment to 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat', highlighting the growing contribution of Indian start-ups and industries in developing drones, anti-drone systems, and advanced military equipment. He appreciated the defence forces for embracing indigenous technologies and acquiring new skills in drone operations and cyber security.

A significant announcement was the Cabinet's approval of the 'Second Tour of Duty' for Agniveers, which Singh termed a Diwali gift. This policy provides Agniveers with another opportunity to serve the nation, allowing all Agniveers upon completion of their two-year engagement period to be enrolled as regular soldiers subject to their willingness and meeting selection criteria.

Singh extended Diwali greetings to personnel and their families, acknowledging their sacrifices while ensuring national security. Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Ashutosh Dixit and Air Officer Commanding Air Commodore Manish Sharma were present during the visit.
