Inauguration Overview
Governor Shri Sanjay Malhotra inaugurated the new campus building of the Centre for Advanced Financial Research and Learning (CAFRAL) in Mumbai on June 23, 2026.
Institutional Vision
CAFRAL aims to become a global centre of excellence in banking, finance and macroeconomics, contributing to policy making and building leadership capability across India's financial sector. Its research generates policy‑oriented insights, while its learning vertical provides capacity‑building support for senior financial sector professionals. The Governing Council is chaired by the RBI Governor.

The ceremony was attended by RBI Deputy Governors Shri Swaminathan J, Dr. Poonam Gupta and Shri Rohit Jain; Executive Director Shri P Vasudevan (also Director of CAFRAL); Directors of NIBM and the College of Supervisors, RBI; Executive Directors and senior RBI officers; and CAFRAL officials.
