The Ministry of Rural Development, in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of External Affairs, and the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser, Government of India, celebrated the International Day of Yoga 2026 at Kartavya Bhavan-03, New Delhi. The event was held under the theme "Yoga for Healthy Ageing" and focused on promoting yoga as a holistic practice for physical fitness, mental well-being, and emotional balance.

Shri Rohit Kansal, Secretary of the Department of Rural Development, led the department's participation and emphasized the importance of incorporating yoga into daily routines for a healthier and more productive lifestyle. During the event, trained yoga instructors guided participants through various yoga asanas and breathing exercises, demonstrating techniques aimed at promoting flexibility, concentration, and overall well-being. The program highlighted yoga's role in enhancing physical fitness, reducing stress, improving mental health, and boosting productivity.

The event was attended by several senior officials including Shri T.K. Anil Kumar (Additional Secretary), Shri Piyush Srivastava (Senior Economic Adviser), and Joint Secretaries Ms. Swati Sharma, Ms. Rohini R. Bhajibhakare, Ms. Jayasree M. G., and Shri Lal Chhandama. A large number of officers and staff members from the Department of Rural Development participated, reaffirming their commitment to wellness, healthy living, and holistic development. The observance reflected the Government's continued commitment to encouraging preventive healthcare and fostering physical and mental wellness among its workforce.
