Russia announced it has learned to reduce the effect of sanctions after the U.S. Treasury did not renew the oil purchase waiver.
The 30‑day waiver, allowing purchases of Russian oil at sea, expired on April 11, having been in place since mid‑March.
The waiver was intended to help control global energy prices amid the U.S.–Israeli conflict with Iran.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced the non‑renewal on Wednesday, signaling tighter sanctions on Russian oil.
