Initiative Overview

The District Administration of Sikar, Rajasthan, in partnership with the Department of Education, launched a district‑wide CPR Training‑of‑Trainers (ToT) programme between 13 July and 25 July 2026. Dr. V.K. Jain, popularly known as the “CPR Doctor of India”, led the effort, training nearly 1,500 Physical Training Instructors (PTIs) and Science Teachers drawn from 807 government secondary schools spanning all 12 blocks and 53 educational clusters of the district.

Programme Design and Delivery

The initiative was structured as a sustainable, non‑pilot rollout, intending every government school to become a centre for lifesaving education. Training sessions combined classroom instruction with extensive hands‑on practice using CPR mannequins. Participants received structured learning material, performed CPR techniques under expert supervision, addressed common misconceptions, completed written assessments, and were certified upon successful completion. Four dedicated training teams, each led by Dr. Jain and certified CPR instructors, coordinated logistics to move equipment across all training centres, enabling simultaneous execution at scale while minimizing travel distances and avoiding disruption to regular school activities.

Ongoing Capacity Building

To ensure continuity beyond the initial training period, each of the 807 participating schools was supplied with a CPR feedback mannequin. These mannequins allow teachers to regularly rehearse CPR techniques with students, reinforcing skills and creating a multiplier effect that can reach thousands of learners annually.

Ashish Modi, IAS, District Collector of Sikar, emphasized the strategic use of the education department’s extensive reach, stating that equipping every teacher with CPR skills will enable them to train students and spread lifesaving awareness throughout the community. District Education Officer Mukesh Jaiman highlighted that schools are ideal platforms for cultivating a culture of lifesaving, noting that each trained teacher can prepare hundreds of future lifesavers.

Vision and Impact

Dr. V.K. Jain articulated a long‑term vision of training more than 40 crore CPR‑capable young citizens by 2047, leveraging the fact that approximately two crore students graduate from schools each year. He noted that he has personally trained over five lakh (500,000) citizens across India, including students, teachers, healthcare professionals, police personnel, government officials, and community volunteers. Through the Keshar Mahaveer Seva Trust, Dr. Jain continues to advocate for making CPR and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training a mandatory component of school curricula, ensuring every child graduates with the confidence to respond to cardiac emergencies.
