The Department of Sports, Government of India has initiated Special Campaign 6.0 as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance cleanliness and streamline administrative processes. This follows the successful implementation of Special Campaign 5.0 last year, which achieved significant results including the reclamation of 390,000 square feet of space across various facilities and the generation of ₹4,07,55,976 in revenue from scrap disposal.
The campaign involves collaboration with several organizations under the Department including Sports Authority of India (SAI), Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE), National Sports University (NSU), National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA), and National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL). The preparatory phase for Special Campaign 6.0 ran from September 15 to September 30, 2026, with senior officers actively overseeing progress at each step.
The campaign focuses on scientific e-waste management with the objective of 'Effective Collection, Segregation and Disposal' of e-waste. Last year's efforts included cleanliness drives across 50 identified sites spanning field offices and headquarters of the organizations under the Department. The reclaimed space has been repurposed into valuable utility spaces, demonstrating a commitment to sustainability and resourcefulness. The Department amplified the campaign's reach through various social media platforms.
