The Ministry of Textiles has provided a comprehensive overview of various schemes implemented to uplift the textile industry across India, with specific focus on Uttar Pradesh and Bhadohi district. The initiatives include the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme focusing on Man-Made Fibre Fabric, MMF Apparel and Technical Textiles to boost large scale manufacturing, which has disbursed ₹386.30 crore in incentives nationwide with 15 companies from Uttar Pradesh among the 170 selected beneficiaries.
Under the Raw Material Supply Scheme and National Handloom Development Programme, Uttar Pradesh received significant support from 2014-15 to 2025-26 including 86 Small Handloom Clusters and 1 Mega Handloom Cluster with financial assistance of ₹96.34 crore benefiting 25,885 handloom workers. The state also saw 143 marketing events organized, formation of 13 Handloom Producer companies, and 6 functional Urban Haats at Varanasi, Agra, Bareily, Rampur, Ayodhya and Jhansi with ₹2.67 crore released. Additionally, 6,865 weavers/handloom entities were onboarded on GeM platform, 21,566 beneficiaries received loans under weavers' MUDRA Scheme, and 17,391 beneficiaries were enrolled under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana. A total of 732.39 lakh kg of yarn was supplied under Transport Subsidy & Price Subsidy.
For handicraft promotion, the National Handicrafts Development Programme provided end-to-end support to artisans, including three Guru Shishya Hastshilp Prashikshan Training programmes and one Toolkit Distribution programme during 2025-26 benefiting 138 artisans. Two Craft-Based Resource Centres were sanctioned to Indian Institute Carpet Technology during 2025-26. Uthan Carpet Producer Company Limited was formed in handmade carpet of Bhadohi GI craft during 2022-23 with 11 different interventions sanctioned to strengthen the Bhadohi carpet cluster.
The SAMARTH-Scheme for Capacity Building in Textile Sector has trained 134,503 beneficiaries in Uttar Pradesh and 151 beneficiaries in Bhadohi District as of 22.07.2026. The information was provided by Minister of State for Textiles Shri Pabitra Margherita in response to a Lok Sabha question.
