TNEPIC 2026 Conference Summary
The Tamil Nadu Cardiac Electrophysiology Conference (TNEPIC) 2026 was held in Chennai on August 26, 2026, bringing together more than 300 healthcare professionals, including cardiac electrophysiologists, cardiologists, international faculty, and students from India, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Australia, the United Kingdom and Canada.
The two‑day scientific programme, organised under the theme “The World of Heart Rhythm Disorders – Where Electrophysiology Meets Innovation,” covered supraventricular tachycardias, atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardias, non‑ischaemic cardiomyopathies, cardiac devices, syncope, sudden cardiac death and emerging electrophysiology technologies such as pulsed‑field ablation and leadless pacemakers. Sessions combined advanced scientific talks, case‑based learning, debates and hands‑on training with simulators.
The conference was inaugurated by the Honourable Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, Thiru J. C. D. Prabhakar, who remarked that Chennai is emerging as a centre for advanced cardiac electrophysiology and heart‑rhythm care, and praised the organisers for facilitating knowledge exchange between Indian and global experts.
A tribute was paid to the late Dr Ulhas Pandurangi, followed by the presentation of Lifetime Achievement and Distinguished Teacher recognitions. Dr T. R. Muralidharan received the “The Heart of Gold” award, while Dr C. Narasimhan was honoured with the “The Maestro of Medicine” award.
TNEPIC 2026 was organised under the auspices of the Cardiological Society of India, Chennai and endorsed by the Indian Heart Rhythm Society. Dr K. Jaishankar served as Organising Chairman, Dr P. V. Sanjai chaired the Scientific Committee, and Dr Deep Chandh Raja S acted as Organising Secretary. The Organising Secretary emphasized the conference’s aim to disseminate knowledge on advanced treatment options for atrial fibrillation, SVT and ventricular tachycardia, and to showcase innovations such as pulsed‑field ablation and leadless pacemakers, noting the expected benefit to students through interaction with experts and hands‑on simulators.
Overall, TNEPIC 2026 highlighted the expanding role of cardiac electrophysiologists in delivering specialised heart‑rhythm care and provided a platform for clinicians and trainees to exchange practical insights and explore integration of newer technologies into clinical practice.
