The Hindi Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Tourism convened on July 13, 2026, at The Ashok Hotel in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. The meeting's primary objective was to review the use of Rajbhasha Hindi in the Ministry's official work and deliberate on measures to further promote its usage.
Attendees included committee members from different parts of the country along with senior ministry officials: Shri Suman Billa (Additional Secretary and Director General of Tourism), Shri Gyan Bhushan (Senior Economic Adviser), and Smt. Mugdha Sinha (Managing Director of India Tourism Development Corporation). Non-official committee members including Dr. Shravan Kumar, Dr. Anurag Anand, Dr. Sushma Singh, Shri Sista Madhusudan Rao, and Shri Umesh Singh expressed satisfaction with the current implementation of Hindi in official ministry work while sharing views on further promotion.
Union Minister Shekhawat emphasized that Hindi must be accorded its rightful place and respect while acknowledging all languages. He stated that Hindi respects the existence of diverse languages spoken across different regions and binds everyone in a common thread of unity, advocating for moving forward by fostering dialogue amid diversity and building consensus through dialogue. The minister noted that the Ministry's 'Incredible India' platform is available in Hindi and emphasized the need to bring Hindi into everyday use through simple and accessible usage, making it a language of common conversation.
During the meeting, the Union Minister released the dictionary titled 'Rajbhasha Shabd Sangam', which was prepared under the guidance of Smt. Mugdha Sinha, Managing Director of India Tourism Development Corporation. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by the Union Minister.
