The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) released findings from an Independent Drive Test conducted across Barmer, Balotra, Pachpadra city and adjoining areas in Rajasthan LSA during June 1-2 and June 4, 2026. The tests covered 350.3 kilometers of city drives and 7 hotspot locations under the supervision of TRAI Regional Office Jaipur, assessing key Quality of Service parameters including coverage gap, call drop rate, call setup success rate, and data download/upload throughput.
Coverage gap analysis revealed significant variations among operators: Airtel showed 3.07% poor signal samples (874 out of 28,421), BSNL demonstrated the highest coverage gap at 29.3% (6,332 out of 21,622), Jio had the best coverage with only 1.24% poor signals (355 out of 28,540), while Vodafone Idea showed 15.98% coverage gap (4,378 out of 27,385).
Call drop performance varied considerably with Airtel recording 0 dropped calls out of 255 established calls (0%), BSNL showing 8 drops out of 183 calls (4.37%), Jio with 2 drops out of 260 calls (0.77%), and Vodafone Idea experiencing 7 drops out of 251 calls (2.79%). Call silence instances (silence >3 seconds) were most prevalent for BSNL with 24 instances out of 143 calls (16.8%) and Vodafone Idea with 30 instances out of 236 calls (12.7%), while Airtel had 0 instances out of 249 calls and Jio showed 3 instances out of 250 calls.
Data performance metrics showed Jio leading with average download speed of 228.12 Mbps on 5G/4G networks and upload speed of 22.28 Mbps. Airtel recorded 145.06 Mbps download and 24.57 Mbps upload speeds on 5G/4G networks. Vodafone Idea showed 22.40 Mbps download and 10.99 Mbps upload speeds across 5G/4G/2G networks, while BSNL demonstrated the lowest performance with 8.11 Mbps download and 3.60 Mbps upload speeds across 4G/3G/2G networks.
The drive test covered multiple locations including Gadra Road, Gagriya, Ramsar, Bhachbhar, Barmer, Uttarlai, Kawas, Lapla, Baytu, Gol Station, Tilwara, Balotra, Jerla and Pachpadra.
