Tripura’s Medical Seat Expansion for NEET UG 2026

Tripura has increased its MBBS seat capacity to roughly 400 seats for the 2025‑26 academic year, spread across three National Medical Commission‑recognised institutions, a near‑doubling from the earlier 225 seats.

Colleges and Seat Allocation

  • Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC), established in 2005, is the state’s flagship government college. It operates on a 42‑acre campus in Agartala, is affiliated to Tripura University, and is attached to the multi‑speciality Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital. For AY 2025‑26, AGMC offers 150 MBBS seats and charges government‑subsidised tuition.
  • Tripura Medical College & Dr. B.R.A.M. Teaching Hospital (TMC), a trust‑run private institution founded in 2006, provides 100 MBBS seats. The majority are filled through the state quota, while a management quota is available, allowing candidates from outside the state to apply via the state counselling process.
  • Tripura Santiniketan Medical College (TSMC), the newest entrant approved by the NMC, admitted its first batch in 2024 with 150 MBBS seats. Being a recent addition, its closing ranks are lower than those of AGMC and TMC, offering a viable option for candidates with moderate NEET scores.

Online Counselling Process

The Tripura Medical Counselling Committee (TRMCC), constituted under the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) and hosted on a National Informatics Centre‑integrated digital platform, conducts the entire undergraduate medical counselling online for the 2026‑27 session. Round 1 registration opened on 18 August 2026. The process involves:

1. Registration and fee payment on the official TRMCC portal.

2. Uploading and verification of documents, followed by publication of the state merit list.

3. Online choice filling and locking of preferred colleges and courses.

4. Seat allotment and issuance of the nomination/allotment letter.

5. Physical reporting at the allotted college solely for final document verification and admission.

Candidates need not travel during registration, choice‑filling, or allotment stages. Seats unfilled in any round are carried forward to subsequent rounds, including a stray vacancy round. Only a single registration per candidate is permitted; multiple registrations under different categories result in rejection. The portal also handles counselling for allied courses such as BDS, BHMS, BAMS, and BASLP.
