The U.S. Energy Information Administration’s weekly Petroleum Status Report shows the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) at 357.1 million barrels for the week ended May 29, 2026, the lowest level since January 2024.
Energy companies withdrew approximately 8.0 million barrels during that week, marking the tenth consecutive week of draws, the first such extended withdrawal period since July 2023.
The previous week (ended May 22) saw withdrawals of 9.1 million barrels, and the week ended May 15 recorded a record draw of 9.9 million barrels.
