Top Gainers and Losers

Weir Group PLC increased by 2.62% (64.00 points) to finish at 2,508.00. WPP PLC added 2.54% (6.20 points) to end at 250.70. Mondi PLC rose 2.51% (17.40 points) to close at 710.40. On the downside, Entain PLC fell 2.11% (11.40 points) to 528.60. DCC plc declined 1.62% (100.00 points) to 6,090.00. Tesco PLC dropped 1.48% (7.00 points) to 466.60.

Market Breadth

Rising stocks outnumbered declining stocks by 986 to 571, while 563 stocks remained unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.

Commodities

Gold futures for August delivery were up 1.22% (50.49) to $4,176.19 per troy ounce. Crude oil for August delivery rose 0.01% to $68.70 a barrel, and the September Brent oil contract increased 0.33% (0.24) to $72.04 a barrel.

Currency and Index Futures

The GBP/USD pair was unchanged, up 0.05% at 1.34, and the EUR/GBP pair was unchanged, up 0.04% at 0.86. The US Dollar Index Futures slipped 0.01% to 100.61.
