The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs organized the prize distribution function for the 17th National Youth Parliament Competition, 2024-25 for Universities and Colleges at the GMC Balayogi Auditorium in Parliament House Complex, New Delhi on July 7, 2026. Minister of State Arjun Ram Meghwal presided over the event and presented the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Running Parliamentary Shield and Trophy to the University of Kashmir, Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, which secured first position at the national level.
Seven group level winners were recognized for their meritorious performance: DAV College, Jalandhar, Punjab; Jadavpur University, Kolkata, West Bengal; Shivaji University, Kolhapur, Maharashtra; Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, Punjab; SSMRV College, Bengaluru, Karnataka; Chanakya National Law University, Patna, Bihar; and Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, Haryana. The winning team from University of Kashmir presented a repeat performance of their Youth Parliament Sitting during the event.
Secretary Nikunja Bihari Dhal noted that 51 universities and colleges from across India participated in the competition, with plans to expand participation in future years. The Youth Parliament Programme, which has been running for 29 years, aims to inculcate democratic values, tolerance of diverse opinions, and parliamentary procedures among youth participants while developing leadership qualities and effective oratory skills.
Minister Meghwal administered the LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) Pledge to all participants and attendees during the function, emphasizing the program's role in nurturing future leaders and contributing to nation-building. This content may not be financially relevant.
