The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the final results of the Combined Defence Services Examination (I), 2026, naming 243 candidates who have qualified for admission to various defence academies. The qualified candidates comprise 155 for the Indian Military Academy's 162nd (DE) Course, 63 for the Indian Naval Academy Executive Branch, and 25 for the Air Force Academy's No. 221 F(P) Pre-Flying Training Course, with some common candidates appearing across multiple lists.
The government had notified 100 vacancies for Indian Military Academy (including 13 reserved for NCC 'C' Certificate Army Wing holders), 26 for Indian Naval Academy (including 6 for NCC Naval Wing and 1 for Hydro), and 32 for Air Force Academy (including 3 reserved for NCC Air Wing through NCC Special Entry). The Commission had initially recommended 2,601, 770, and 640 candidates as qualified in the written test for IMA, INA, and AFA respectively, with final qualification determined after SSB tests conducted by Army Headquarters.
These results are provisional as verification of date of birth and educational qualifications is still under process by Army Headquarters. Candidates must submit original certificates along with attested copies to their respective service headquarters based on first choice. Medical examination results have not been factored into these merit lists. The results are available on the UPSC website, though candidate marks will be published only after declaration of final results for Officers' Training Academy course under the same examination.
