US equity indices slipped Tuesday, with S&P 500 down 0.3% to 6,591.64, Nasdaq down 0.5% to 21,891.33, Dow down 0.4% to 46,490.98.
President Trump gave Iran until 20:00 ET Tuesday to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, threatening attacks on bridges and power plants.
Brent crude fell 0.2% to $109.61 a barrel while WTI rose 1.4% to $114.02 amid supply‑risk concerns over the Hormuz shutdown.
Broadcom rose >5% after an AI chip deal with Google, while insurers Humana and UnitedHealth jumped 9% and 11% on Medicare rates.
