The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education is implementing Yuva Sangam Phase VII under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme with the objective of fostering national integration and strengthening people-to-people connections among the youth. The programme provides participants from 20 paired States and Union Territories with opportunities to engage with India's diverse cultural traditions, educational institutions, innovation ecosystems and developmental initiatives.
A delegation from Uttarakhand, with Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University as its nodal institute, visited West Bengal from 7 October 2026, hosted by IIT Kharagpur. The delegation interacted with Governor R.N. Ravi on 8 October 2026, engaging in discussions on learning, cultural exchange and the importance of strengthening connections among young people from different parts of the country.
As part of their cultural exploration, the delegates visited Prinsep Ghat in Kolkata and Sundervan on 9 October 2026. Prinsep Ghat, situated along the Hooghly River, offered participants an opportunity to experience Kolkata's historic charm and scenic surroundings. The visit reflects the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat by encouraging young people to explore new places, interact with diverse communities and build lasting friendships beyond geographical boundaries.
