Vice-President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan addressed the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the Gordhandas Seksaria College of Yoga and Cultural Synthesis at Kaivalyadhama, Lonavala, Maharashtra, on September 18, 2026. The event marked the college's 75 years of dedicated service to yoga education, research, and cultural synthesis, while Kaivalyadhama itself has completed a century of service.
The Vice-President praised Swami Kuvalayananda, who founded Kaivalyadhama in 1924, for pioneering the scientific study of yoga when it was largely viewed as mystical. He emphasized that yoga is not for one generation but for every generation to come, and that good legacies never die but continue to inspire generations. Radhakrishnan highlighted the growing global acceptance of yoga and acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts in promoting yoga internationally.
He noted that in an age of technological progress and digital connectivity, yoga provides an opportunity to pause, concentrate, reflect, and reconnect with oneself, helping bridge the gap between mind and body while promoting physical and mental well-being. Addressing young students, he stated that India's youth possess immense energy, talent, and ambition that achieve fullest potential when combined with discipline and awareness, referencing Patanjali's concept of chitta vritti nirodhah (calming and focusing the mind).
On the occasion, the Vice-President launched the book 'Yoga Explained – Learn From the Master' by Shri O. P. Tiwari, visited the campus, and interacted with students, encouraging them to cultivate values of discipline, concentration, and self-awareness through yoga practice. Other dignitaries present included Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, former Union Minister and Kaivalyadhama Global Chairman Suresh Prabhu, CEO Subodh Tiwari, and Chief Patron Rakesh Seksaria.
