India is actively pursuing a strategy of deepened bilateral trade relationships to spur economic growth. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal’s recent engagements in Singapore, Russia, and Namibia highlight this focus, with efforts to attract significant investment from Japan and strengthen existing partnerships. Trade with Singapore reached $36.1 billion, while new working groups are fostering cooperation in areas like agri-exports and critical minerals with Namibia, where trade has risen to $593 million. These initiatives signal a broader ambition to diversify trade routes, attract foreign capital, and position India as a key player in global commerce.
