Government initiatives are bolstering India's agricultural sector, aiming to improve farmer incomes and enhance crop productivity. The Cabinet approved significant increases in Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for 14 Kharif crops for the 2026-27 season, ensuring a 1.5 times cost of production with substantial margins for farmers, particularly in crops like moong, bajra, maize, and tur. Simultaneously, a ₹5659 crore Cotton Productivity Mission was launched, targeting a substantial increase in cotton production and productivity through improved seeds, modern technologies, and the promotion of Kasturi Cotton Bharat traceability, benefiting millions of farmers across key cotton-growing states. These measures signal a continued commitment to supporting agricultural livelihoods and strengthening India's food security.
