Operational Capacity Update
JSW Energy Limited has added 1,694 MW of generation capacity since April 2026, increasing the company's total installed capacity to 15,147 MW. The capacity additions include approximately 1.4 GW of renewable capacity.
Capacity Addition Breakdown
The capacity added in FY27 to date comprises:
- 593 MW of solar capacity
- 108 MW of wind capacity
- 542 MW of hybrid capacity
- 150 MW of hydro capacity
- 300 MW of inorganic thermal capacity from Maruti Clean Coal & Power Ltd
Portfolio Composition
Renewable energy now constitutes approximately 61% (9,189 MW) of the company's operational portfolio, with the following breakdown:
- 3,125 MW of wind capacity
- 2,426 MW of solar capacity
- 1,857 MW of hybrid capacity
- 1,781 MW of hydro capacity
The thermal portfolio stands at 5,958 MW.
Management Commentary
Mr. Sharad Mahendra, Joint Managing Director and CEO, stated that the company has commissioned 1.4 GW of renewable energy capacity in the first half of FY27 and remains on track to deliver the balance 1.6 GW during the year. The remaining capacity is fully derisked with land, transmission connectivity, and equipment supply already in place. The company expects to benefit from favorable construction season in the second half to achieve its 3 GW annual capacity addition target.
Future Targets and Strategy
JSW Energy has a total locked-in generation capacity of 32.4 GW, comprising:
- 15.1 GW operational capacity
- 14.5 GW under construction across thermal, hydro, and renewables
- 2.8 GW pipeline capacity
The company's locked-in energy storage capacity stands at 29.6 GWh, comprising:
- 26.4 GWh of pumped hydro storage
- 3.2 GWh of battery energy storage
This positions the company to supply firm, round-the-clock power as the sector shifts from energy to dispatchability.
The company is targeting:
- 30 GW of generation capacity by 2030
- 40 GWh of energy storage by 2030
- Carbon neutrality by 2050
Progress Against Targets
The company remains on track to achieve its FY27 renewable energy capacity addition target of 3 GW, having already delivered approximately 46% of the targeted capacity.
