Nominations for the 3rd edition of the Shikshagraha Awards, instituted by the Shibulal Family Philanthropic Initiatives (SFPI), are open until July 31 2026.
The awards aim to recognise and support educators, school leaders, community volunteers and other changemakers improving India’s over 1 million government schools, which serve 121 million children and employ 9.4 million teachers.
Winners receive financial support, national media coverage, access to a network of changemakers and civil‑society organisations, and institutional credibility that facilitates collaboration with government departments, NGOs and funders.
Past awardees have expanded impact: Kumari Guddi (Bihar) created a community helpdesk, scholarship fund and supply store supporting 50‑100 children; Nellore Subhrahmanyam (Andhra Pradesh) launched a mobile science bus reaching ≈50 rural schools; Muskan Ahirwar (Madhya Pradesh) grew her community library from 2,000 to 3,500 books; Batskhem Thabah (Meghalaya) inspired statewide teacher participation.
The 2027 award ceremony will be presented at InvokED, an international education‑leadership dialogue scheduled for February 26‑27 2027.
