Assessment of Additional EMRS: 723 Sanctioned, 499 Functional

The Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs replied in Rajya Sabha on the status of Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) and the assessment for additional schools.
As of now, 723 EMRS have been sanctioned and 499 are functional, as per the annexure provided in the reply.
The EMRS scheme, announced in the 2018-19 Union Budget, aims to provide quality education to ST children in blocks with >50% ST population and at least 20,000 tribal persons.
