The Department of Science and Technology (DST) has successfully completed the Preparatory Phase of Special Campaign 6, with the Implementation Phase scheduled to run from October 2 to October 31, 2026. The campaign, undertaken in coordination with the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) as the nodal department, focuses on strengthening Swachhata (cleanliness), improving efficiency, ensuring timely disposal of pending matters, and promoting better management of official resources.

During the preparatory phase, DST conducted a detailed assessment of pending VIP references, public grievances, parliamentary assurances, and other time-bound matters across DST and its extensive institutional network, including Subordinate Offices, Autonomous Institutions, T-Hubs, Missions, and Laboratories. The department identified various locations for focused cleanliness and space-management activities, with emphasis on creating cleaner, more organized workspaces.

A comprehensive review of physical and electronic records, office scrap, and other materials requiring disposal was carried out, identifying records for digitization, obsolete documents for weeding out, and opportunities for better utilization of office space. DST successfully uploaded requisite targets on the SCDPM 6 portal and finalized action plans covering cleanliness drives, disposal of pending matters, records management, and freeing up of office space.

Special emphasis has been placed on the identification, segregation, disposal, and management of e-waste, with stakeholders across DST institutions being sensitized to ensure compliance with applicable norms. The department has planned awareness-generation and campaign-advocacy initiatives through multiple communication channels including PIB releases and social media platforms to encourage wider participation and reinforce the message of Swachhata and good governance.

The campaign aims to institutionalize Swachhata, efficiency, transparency, accountability, and good governance while fostering a cleaner, more organized working environment across DST's operations.
