The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying administered the Swachhata Pledge on September 17, 2026 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, marking the beginning of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 program. Dr Abhilaksh Likhi, Secretary (Fisheries), along with Dr Surabhi Rai, Joint Secretary (Marine Fisheries), and Shri Arunkumar M. Solanki, Additional Chief Secretary (Fisheries) of Gujarat, led the pledge administration to more than 1000 participants including department officials, representatives from subordinate offices, fishermen, fish farmers, women fishers and fish farmers, fisheries cooperatives, and industry representatives.
The hybrid-mode event served to reaffirm commitment towards maintaining cleanliness, reducing pendency, promoting efficient record management, and fostering a transparent and citizen-centric work culture. The observance underscored the Department's focus on promoting cleanliness and hygiene at workplaces, strengthening institutional accountability, streamlining record management practices, and encouraging active participation from all stakeholders in creating well-managed institutions.
This event was organized as part of the nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign running from September 17 to October 2, 2026, which aims to promote cleanliness, sanitation, and public participation under the Swachh Bharat Mission vision. The program specifically targeted maintaining clean and healthy workplaces while fostering a culture of collective responsibility and service within the fisheries administration ecosystem.
