The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, is actively implementing Special Campaign 6 from October 2 to October 31, 2026, focusing on institutionalizing Swachhata, reducing pendency, improving record management, promoting scientific disposal of e-waste, and ensuring optimum utilization of office space. The campaign is being undertaken in coordination with the Department's subordinate offices and autonomous bodies following guidelines from the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG).

During the preparatory phase, action plans and measurable targets were identified with emphasis on cleanliness, review and weeding of redundant records, responsible waste management, and expeditious disposal of pending references. Progress is regularly reviewed by the Secretary (Fisheries) in meetings with senior officers, who are encouraged to promote Swachhata in their workplaces and minimize pendencies.

As the campaign reaches its mid-phase, significant progress has been recorded: out of 32 identified cleanliness campaign activities, 23 have been successfully completed. In record management, 400 physical files have been reviewed, with 350 identified for weeding and 287 files already weeded out. The Department has achieved 80% resolution of public grievances to date and is taking steps for environmentally sound disposal of electronic waste in compliance with the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022. More than 35 social media posts have been disseminated through the Department and its six offices to highlight campaign initiatives.

The nodal officer inspected the office complex at Chanderlok Building, New Delhi on October 15, 2026, while autonomous bodies and subordinate institutes continue various activities promoting cleanliness awareness and efficient office management. The implementation phase continues until October 31, 2026, with the Department resolved to complete remaining activities and achieve targets for various indicators including disposal of pending matters.
