Union Minister Jitendra Singh inaugurated a workplace creche and Blood Donation Camp at Kartavya Bhawan-3 in New Delhi as part of Special Swachhata Campaign 6.0. The model creche spans over 2,000 square feet with capacity for 30-35 children, and currently has 27 children already enrolled. The facility includes child-friendly washrooms, dedicated play area with toys and learning materials, audio-visual equipment, clean drinking water, sleeping area, nurture and feeding room, and kitchen or dry pantry, with safety provisions including CCTV surveillance, soft-cushioned flooring and walls, and medical kit.
The creche was established in accordance with Ministry of Women and Child Development guidelines and will be managed by Grih Kalyan Kendra (GKK), a society under DoPT with experience in welfare activities for Central Government employees. GKK operates around six other creche facilities across Delhi and has partnered with NGO Mobile Creches to strengthen teacher and caregiver capacities through training for quality childcare practices.
Concurrently, over 100 people enrolled for the Blood Donation Camp at the same location, reflecting strong participation by Central Government employees. In a related sustainability initiative aligned with Swachhata Campaign 6.0, DoPT condemned eighteen diesel and petrol vehicles and replaced them with electric vehicles for departmental use, contributing to cleaner government operations.
The initiatives represent the government's broader approach to governance that combines efficient utilization of office spaces with employee welfare and supportive working environments. Secretary of Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) Ms. Rachna Shah and other senior officials attended the inauguration program.
