The Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG) is leading Special Campaign 6 for Swachhata and disposal of pending matters, which has gained significant momentum following the completion of its Preparatory Phase on September 30, 2026. The Implementation Phase commenced on October 2, 2026 and will continue until October 31, 2026, with 84 Ministries/Departments participating actively. Secretary of DARPG, Smt. Nivedita Shukla Verma, chaired the third review meeting with nodal officers, which was attended by over 600 officers virtually from more than 240 locations representing ministries, their PSUs, and field offices.
A key feature of this year's campaign is the dedicated one-day drive where major ministries conduct cleanliness and disposal activities simultaneously across all attached, subordinate, and field offices. The campaign has seen innovative, citizen-centric initiatives including the Department of Posts' DigiPost initiative for phygital delivery of Gujarat Police e-challans, the Department of Defence's e-Chhawani Helpdesk for grievance redressal, and the Ministry of Railways' Rail Jan Yuva Samvaad for youth engagement.
E-waste management initiatives include the Ministry of Coal setting up e-waste kiosks and collection drives, the Ministry of Mines establishing e-waste collection stalls promoting Reduce, Reuse, Recycle approach, and IIIT Allahabad segregating obsolete e-waste for disposal. Waste to Wealth projects feature the Ministry of Culture creating art sculptures from discarded materials, the Ministry of Railways developing a Waste to Art Park, and the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises crafting a working charkha from e-waste. Additional activities include records management through shredding and weeding of obsolete documents by DSIR, distribution of Swachhata kits by Numaligarh Refinery Limited, and community participation in waste segregation promoted by Assam Rifles. The campaign is being widely publicized through social media using #SpecialCampaign6 and PIB statements.
