The Government of India's Special Campaign 6, focused on Swachhata and disposal of pending matters, is progressing through its preparatory phase from September 16-30, 2026, with the implementation phase scheduled from October 2-31, 2026. The Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG) serves as the nodal department for this campaign.
During the preparatory phase, Ministries/Departments have nominated nodal officers across their campaign offices in attached/subordinate offices, PSUs, and autonomous organizations. Key activities include mobilizing field functionaries, identifying pending references, finalizing office lists for Swachhata Campaign, assessing electronic waste volume for disposal, and enhancing office space procedures. The campaign also focuses on waste-to-wealth initiatives and record management practices for weeding and preserving historical records.
Progress is monitored through a dedicated web-portal (https://scdpm.nic.in/SpecialCampaign6) where all Ministries/Departments must upload their preparatory phase targets. The second meeting of Nodal Officers was chaired by DARPG Secretary Smt. Nivedita Shukla Verma, attended by 40+ senior officers in person and 800+ officers virtually from over 500 locations representing 84 Ministries/Departments and their field offices. Additional Secretary Shri Puneet Yadav presented the campaign's progress during this meeting.
Several key departments including Department of Posts, Department of Financial Services, Department of Defence Production, Department of Military Affairs, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Railways, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Mines, Central Board of Direct Taxes, and Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change showcased achievements from Special Campaign 5 and outlined plans for Special Campaign 6.
Extensive awareness generation has been achieved through electronic, print, and social media, with 1,039 tweets under #SpecialCampaign6 and 54 PIB statements issued. The DARPG will collate best practices from Special Campaign 6 as part of Good Governance Week 2026 activities.
