Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Dr. Jitendra Singh held bilateral talks with Republic of Korea Minister of Interior and Safety Yun Hojung in New Delhi, focusing on strengthening cooperation in digital governance and public administration. The meeting, which lasted over an hour, involved discussions about finalizing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two ministries to promote cooperation in public administration and government innovation.
Dr. Singh highlighted the Special Strategic Partnership between India and Korea, referencing the Joint Strategic Vision Statement finalized during President Lee Jae Myung's visit to India in April 2024 when he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The minister emphasized India's significant progress in digital governance, public service delivery, and grievance redressal mechanisms under PM Modi's leadership.
Specific Indian initiatives highlighted during the discussions included the Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) and Digital Life Certificate program, which were presented as examples of technology-enabled governance platforms driving transparency and citizen-centric service delivery. The Korean delegation shared their experiences in smart governance, digital public services, and disaster and safety management systems.
The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in digital transformation of government services, application of emerging technologies including Artificial Intelligence in public administration, capacity building of civil servants, citizen participation in governance, and best practices in public grievance redressal systems. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening people-to-people contacts and institutional partnerships to address emerging governance challenges.
The meeting concluded with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to enhancing India-Republic of Korea cooperation for promoting efficient, transparent, and citizen-centric governance, building on the historical ties between the two nations dating back to the marital connection between Princess Suriratna of Ayodhya and King Suro of Gaya's confederacy.
