The Ministry of Railways is preparing for Special Campaign 6 for Institutionalizing Swachhata and Disposal of Pending Matters (SCDPM 6), which consists of two phases: a preparatory phase from September 15-30, 2026 for target setting, followed by an implementation phase from October 2-31, 2026. During the previous Campaign 5.0, the Ministry achieved 100% of identified targets for disposal of public grievances, VIP references, and other pending matters, resulting in the release of 6.06 lakh square feet of space and revenue generation of ₹570 crore.

The Railway Board is closely monitoring preparations and has issued detailed guidelines from the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) to all field units. A letter from the Secretary, Railway Board has been sent to all General Managers and Heads of other units. More than 150 nodal officers have been designated across Indian Railways to coordinate the campaign efforts, collecting progress information daily and feeding it directly into DARPG's central SCDPM monitoring portal for real-time tracking and weekly high-level reviews.

This year's campaign places special emphasis on effective collection, segregation, and disposal of e-waste as per E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022, scrap disposal under General Financial Rules (GFR), office space beautification, process/rule simplification, and clearance of pending references. The Ministry will organize 'Rail Jan Samvaad' during SCDPM 6 to strengthen public engagement and foster dialogue with citizens, following previous successful initiatives like Rail Chaupal (SCDPM 4.0) and Amrit Samvaad (SCDPM 5.0). The campaign aims to embed cleanliness as a routine operational standard across all field units, attached and subordinate offices, PSUs, and autonomous bodies under the Ministry of Railways.
