Implementation of PM-JANMAN in Kerala

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs provided an update on the implementation progress of Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha AbhiyaN (PM-JANMAN) in Kerala as of June 30, 2026. Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Shri Durgadas Uikey informed Lok Sabha that the ministry monitors implementation through periodic reviews, field-level monitoring, and reports from state governments and implementing agencies. The scheme has contributed to socio-economic development of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) in Kerala through improved basic amenities and livelihood opportunities.

Multi-Ministerial Implementation Progress

The progress data shows implementation across nine central ministries and departments. The Ministry of Rural Development (PMAY-G) has sanctioned 1,301 houses with 63 completed, while PMGSY shows zero progress on road sanctions and completions. The Ministry of Jal Shakti (JJM) has sanctioned 96 villages with only 1 village saturated. Healthcare interventions under MoHFW (NRHM) show 30 mobile medical units sanctioned and operational.

Infrastructure and Livelihood Development

The Ministry of Women and Child Development (POSHAN 2.0) has sanctioned and operationalized 5 Anganwadi centers. Education interventions under MoE (SSA) show 4 sanctioned projects with zero completed. Power infrastructure under MoP (RDSS) reports 345 households sanctioned with 135 electrified. MNRE shows 98 households sanctioned with 88 electrified. Telecommunications under MoC (DoT-USOF) has planned coverage for 49 habitations with 33 already covered.

Tribal Affairs Specific Initiatives

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs directly reports 15 Multi-Purpose Centers (MPCs) sanctioned with 4 completed, and 8 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs) sanctioned with 7 businesses started. The ministry emphasizes regular coordination with line ministries and state tribal welfare departments to expedite achievement of targets. A national-level Project Monitoring Unit has been established to ensure effective implementation through continuous coordination with line ministries and state governments.
