The Ministry of Panchayati Raj is implementing the e-Panchayat Mission Mode Project under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan to strengthen transparency, efficiency, and accountability in Panchayati Raj Institutions through digital enablement across all States. The eGramSwaraj application has been integrated with multiple digital governance platforms including Public Financial Management System (PFMS) for online fund management and digital payments, Government e-Marketplace (GeM) for transparent procurement, BSNL for internet connection management, BHASHINI for multilingual AI-enabled translation services, and India Meteorological Department for weather-related information to support local planning.
During FY 2025-26, out of 258,725 Gram Panchayats across States, 255,251 (98.65%) uploaded their Gram Panchayat Development Plans on e-Gram Swaraj, while 245,839 Gram Panchayats (95%) made payments totaling ₹57,337 crore through the e-GramSwaraj-PFMS interface. The Ministry also launched SabhaSaar, an AI-enabled voice-to-text meeting summarization tool that captures agenda-wise discussions, decisions, and participation details from Gram Sabha proceedings. This tool has been used by 135,956 Gram Panchayats, processing over 357,020 meeting minutes across States/UTs.
These initiatives are expected to enhance transparency through digital workflows and real-time monitoring, improve accountability through standardized planning and financial management processes, facilitate evidence-based decision-making via dashboards and reports, reduce manual intervention, and promote ease of governance through an integrated digital platform for planning, accounting, monitoring, and implementation of Panchayat activities.
