The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship provided details of its tribal area skill development initiatives in response to a Lok Sabha query. The Ministry of Tribal Affairs implements the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Vikas Mission (PMJVM) through TRIFED to promote livelihood opportunities and entrepreneurship for tribal populations through value addition, branding, and marketing of Minor Forest Produces and local agricultural goods. Under this scheme, TRIFED has sanctioned 4,172 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs) associating 1,248,067 members nationwide, with 20 VDVKs in Dahod-Gujarat covering 5,900 beneficiaries.
The government's flagship missions include Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) and Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyaan (PM-JANMAN) dedicated to holistic tribal development. DAJGUA addresses critical infrastructure, healthcare, education, and livelihood gaps through 25 interventions coordinated by 17 Ministries/Departments. Under this initiative, 30 Tribal Skilling Centres (TSCs) have been established through convergence under JSS in 30 tribal districts across 15 states.
MSDE has implemented a project establishing Skill Labs and Training of Trainers in 400 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) and 200 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) for delivery of skilling courses, funded through the National Skill Development Fund (NSDF). The project established 1,200 vocational skill labs aligned with CBSE curriculum (two per school) and included capacity-building for 1,200 skill teachers (two teachers trained per school).
MSDE is implementing Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 4.0 for skill development training through Short-Term Training, up-skilling, and re-skilling via Recognition of Prior Learning across 111 aspirational districts including Dahod district of Gujarat. In the Dahod Lok Sabha Constituency (comprising Dahod and Mahisagar districts), 2,351 candidates have been trained/oriented as of June 30, 2026. The financial year-wise breakdown for Dahod District shows: 201 candidates in 2023-24, 720 in 2024-25, 90 in 2025-26, and 0 in 2026-27.
The Skill Hub initiative leverages educational institution infrastructure for PMKVY training. PMKVY 4.0 is demand-driven, with training centers accredited based on proposals from Project Implementing Agencies considering district skill gaps. As of June 30, 2026, six training centers have been accredited in Dahod district for project-based skill training in various vocational job roles including Kisan Drone Operator, Bridal, Fashion and Portfolio Makeup Artist, Electronics Machine Maintenance Executive, traditional tribal skills, and other industry-relevant trades.
