NAMASTE Scheme Profiles 89,248 Sanitation Workers, 317 Deaths Reported

The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment reported that 89,248 sanitation and sewer workers have been profiled under the NAMASTE scheme.
A total of 317 sanitation workers died due to hazardous cleaning of sewers and septic tanks between 2021 and 2025.
The NAMASTE scheme provides PPE kits, training, and health insurance, covering 75,710 workers under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
