The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare has disclosed the selection methodology for the Prime Minister Dhan-DhaanyaKrishiYojana (DDKY), identifying 100 districts across India based on three specific agricultural indicators: low productivity, low cropping intensity, and less agriculture credit disbursement. The selection utilized published data already in the public domain for these indicators.
The allocation of districts to each state was determined by considering both the net cropped area and the number of operational holdings within the state, ensuring balanced regional development and targeting agricultural growth where it is most needed. Every state has been included in the scheme with at least one district selected through this methodology.
The government has clarified that states retain the flexibility to identify additional districts requiring similar focused attention. These states may adopt and replicate the same framework and approach in those districts using their existing administrative mechanisms and available scheme resources, without requiring additional central exclusion or inclusion processes.
