President of India Droupadi Murmu will confer National Teachers Awards on 48 school teachers at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on September 5, 2026. The Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education organizes this national-level function annually on Teachers Day to honor exceptional teachers who have improved school education quality and enriched students' lives through their commitment.
The selection process involved online self-nominations invited through the Ministry's portal from June 15 to July 20, 2026, followed by a rigorous three-stage selection process at District, State, and National levels. The 48 selected teachers represent diverse geographical coverage from 27 States, 7 Union Territories, and 6 Organizations of the Central Government, with gender distribution of 26 male and 22 female awardees.
The award ceremony will feature short documentaries showcasing the exemplary work of each awardee. The event will be telecast live on Doordarshan and the SWAYAM PRABHA channels of the Ministry of Education, and streamed live at https://webcast.gov.in/moe, with additional live coverage on various social media channels of the Ministry. The list of awardees is provided without any particular order of merit.
