The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment commenced the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2026 on September 17, 2026. The campaign will continue until October 2nd, 2026, focusing on cleanliness and collective public participation. Secretary of Social Justice and Empowerment Shri Sudhansh Pant administered the Swachhata Pledge to officers and officials of all ranks within the department, while other officials participated from their respective seats and offices. Officials posted at other locations also participated from their workplaces.

All organizations under the Department were directed to organize the Swachhata Pledge at their stationed offices to ensure wider participation across the department and its institutions. Through the pledge, participants committed to cleanliness, devoting 100 hours every year (equivalent to two hours per week) to voluntary cleanliness work, and pledged neither to litter nor allow others to litter. They resolved to begin cleanliness efforts with themselves, their families, localities, villages, and workplaces, and to encourage others to contribute to the Swachh Bharat Mission.

The observance emphasized that sustained individual action and community participation are central to building clean workplaces, neighborhoods, villages, towns, and ultimately a cleaner nation. This content may not be financially relevant.
