Ministry of Tribal Affairs is organizing a Special Interactive Meeting of the President of India with beneficiaries of Central Sector Scholarship Schemes
The event is part of "Janjatiya Garima Utsav" celebrations from 10th May to 9th June 2026
The interaction occurs during "Birsa Lives in New Bharat Week" from 25th May to 2nd June 2026
Approximately 200 tribal students from across India will participate in the interaction
Students are beneficiaries of three scholarship schemes: National Fellowship for Scheduled Tribes (NFST), National Scholarship Scheme for Higher Education of ST Students, and National Overseas Scholarship (NOS) Scheme for ST Students
NFST is a fully funded Central Sector Scheme supporting meritorious ST students pursuing Ph.D. programmes in India
NFST awards 750 fresh fellowships annually
NFST currently has approximately 3,000 beneficiaries
National Scholarship Scheme for Higher Education supports ST students pursuing graduate and postgraduate studies
The higher education scheme covers 265 premier institutions across fields including Engineering, Medicine, Law, Management and Information Technology
The higher education scheme awards approximately 2,500 fresh scholarships annually
The higher education scheme currently has nearly 7,000 beneficiaries
National Overseas Scholarship (NOS) Scheme enables meritorious ST students to pursue higher education in globally ranked universities abroad
NOS is implemented in coordination with Indian Missions overseas
NOS provides 20 fresh awards every year
NOS currently has approximately 70 students pursuing studies in leading international institutions
