Regulatory and Policy Measures
The Reserve Bank of India, exercising powers under sub‑section (1) of Section 35A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, has extended the earlier directive issued to The Baghat Urban Co‑operative Bank Limited, Solan. The original directive, dated 06 October 2025 (Directive SML.DCBS.CRRB.No.S79/02-31-005/2025-2026), was for a six‑month period ending on 08 April 2026. This was subsequently extended by Directive No. DOR.MON.D‑22/12.28.302/2026‑27 dated 01 July 2026, to run until 08 October 2026. The present extension adds a further three‑month period, from the close of business on 08 October 2026 to the close of business on 08 January 2027, subject to review.
The RBI expressly notes that this extension should not be construed as an indication that it is satisfied with the bank’s financial position. All other terms and conditions of the original directive remain unchanged. The extension is issued in the public interest to allow continued operation of the bank under regulatory supervision.
The directive is signed by the Chief General Manager, Brij Raj, and issued as Press Release 2026‑2027/1250.
In conclusion, the RBI has provided a time‑limited regulatory extension for The Baghat Urban Co‑operative Bank Limited, maintaining existing conditions while emphasizing that the bank’s financial health remains a concern.
