The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has extended its New Amnesty Scheme 2025 for an additional three months, now running from 1 October 2026 to 31 December 2026. This extension maintains all existing terms and conditions of the scheme, which was originally scheduled to end on 30 September 2026. The decision follows review of representations from various stakeholders.

The New Amnesty Scheme 2025 is a one-time dispute resolution initiative designed to reduce the backlog of court cases and promote compliance under the erstwhile ESI Act. The scheme provides a structured mechanism for employers to resolve legal disputes with ESIC through out-of-court settlement. Key provisions include settlement of ad-hoc assessments by paying actual contributions and interest without any damages being levied, and withdrawal of cases where employers have already paid dues subject to payment of 10% of disputed damages.

The scheme also covers cases filed by ESIC for non-submission of records or delayed payments that were later complied with, which will be withdrawn with court permission. Eligibility is limited to court cases filed up to 31 March 2025. The extension provides additional time for eligible employers and insured persons to avail themselves of the scheme's benefits, supporting the government's broader goal of enhancing ease of doing business while upholding the rights of citizens served by ESIC.
