Regulatory and Policy Measures
The Reserve Bank of India has exercised its powers under sub‑section (1) of Section 35A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 to extend the directions previously issued to The Industrial Co‑operative Bank Ltd., Guwahati. The original directive (Directive No.GWH.DOS.ADM.No.S103/01-10-101/2025-2026) dated July 03, 2025 prescribed a six‑month period ending on 4 January 2026. This was subsequently extended to 4 October 2026 by Directive No.DOR.MON./D-18/12-29-104/2026-2027 dated 25 June 2026. The current extension adds a further three months, moving the expiry to 4 January 2027, and remains subject to review.
The RBI explicitly notes that this extension and any modification should not be interpreted as an indication that the Bank’s financial position meets the RBI’s satisfaction. All other terms and conditions of the original directive continue to apply unchanged.
In conclusion, the RBI has prolonged its supervisory directive for The Industrial Co‑operative Bank Ltd., Guwahati by three months, maintaining the existing regulatory framework while clarifying that the extension does not reflect a positive assessment of the bank’s financial health.
