Regulatory and Policy Measures

The Reserve Bank of India, exercising powers under sub‑section (1) of Section 35A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, has extended the earlier directive issued to Irinjalakuda Town Co‑operative Bank Ltd., Kerala. The original directive dated 29 July 2025 provided a six‑month period ending 30 January 2026, which was subsequently extended to 30 October 2026 by a directive dated 21 July 2026. The present extension adds a further three months, moving the expiry to close of business on 30 January 2027, subject to review.

The RBI expressly states that this extension and any modification should not be construed as an indication that it is satisfied with the bank’s financial position. All other terms and conditions of the earlier directive remain unchanged.

The press release, numbered 2026‑2027/1404, is signed by the Chief General Manager, Brij Raj, confirming the RBI’s decision.

In conclusion, the RBI has prolonged the supervisory directive for Irinjalakuda Town Co‑operative Bank Ltd. by three months, maintaining existing conditions while emphasizing that the extension does not reflect a judgment on the bank’s financial health.
