Regulatory and Policy Measures
The Reserve Bank of India has exercised its powers under sub‑section (1) of Section 35A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 to extend the earlier directive issued to Motiram Agrawal Jalna Merchants Co‑operative Bank Ltd. The original directive (Directive No. NGP.DOS.SED 2.No.S12/15‑04‑339/2026‑2027) dated 10 April 2026 was for a period of six months, expiring on 10 October 2026. The RBI has now extended the period for a further three months, up to the close of business on 10 January 2027, subject to review.
The extension does not constitute an indication that the RBI is satisfied with the bank’s financial position. All other terms and conditions of the original directive remain unchanged.
Chief General Manager Brij Raj signed the press release.
The RBI’s action reflects its continued supervisory oversight of the cooperative bank in the public interest.
In summary, the RBI has prolonged supervisory measures for the bank, maintaining existing conditions while monitoring its financial health.
