Regulatory and Policy Measures

The Reserve Bank of India, exercising powers under sub‑section (1) of Section 35A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, has extended the period of operation of the earlier directive issued to Urban Co-operative Bank Limited, Dehradun. The original directive, dated 09 February 2026, prescribed a six‑month operational period ending on 10 August 2026. This was subsequently extended on 05 August 2026 by Directive No. DOR.MON.D-29/12-28-025/2026-27, allowing the bank to operate until 10 November 2026.

In the present action, the RBI further extends the directive for an additional three months, from the close of business on 10 November 2026 to the close of business on 10 February 2027, subject to review. The extension is made in the public interest, but the RBI expressly states that this should not be construed as an indication of satisfaction with the bank’s financial position. All other terms and conditions of the original directive remain unchanged.

The extension is communicated through Press Release 2026-2027/1444, signed by the Chief General Manager, Brij Raj.

In conclusion, the RBI has provided a time‑bound extension to the operational directive for Urban Co-operative Bank Limited, Dehradun, while maintaining the existing regulatory framework and emphasizing that the extension does not reflect an endorsement of the bank’s financial health.
