Regulatory and Policy Measures

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issued a directive under Section 35A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 to Sadbhav Nagrik Sahakari Bank Maryadit, Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh (Directive No. BPL.DOS. SED. No. S1638/12.07.054/2025‑26 dated 6 October 2025). The original directive was for a period of six months, expiring on 7 April 2026, and was subsequently extended to 7 July 2026 by order DOR.RG/D‑04/12.07.054/2026‑2027 dated 2 April 2026. On 6 July 2026 the RBI further extended the period by three months, now ending on 7 October 2026, subject to review. The RBI stated that the extension is in the public interest and that all other terms and conditions of the original directive remain unchanged. The RBI also clarified that this extension should not be interpreted as an indication that it is satisfied with the bank’s financial position.
