Regulatory and Policy Measures
The Reserve Bank of India, exercising powers under sub‑section (1) of Section 35A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, has extended the period of operation of the earlier directive issued to Sri Guru Raghavendra Sahakara Bank Niyamitha, Bengaluru.
The original directive (Directive No. DoS.CO.UCB.BSD-III.D-2/12.23.283/2019‑20) dated 2 January 2020 was for a six‑month period ending on 10 July 2020 and was subsequently extended to close of business on 10 August 2026. The RBI now further extends the directive for a period of three months, moving the expiry to close of business on 10 November 2026, subject to review.
The RBI expressly states that this extension or any modification should not be construed as an indication that the RBI is satisfied with the financial position of the bank. All other terms and conditions of the original directive remain unchanged.
The press release is identified as 2026‑2027/820 and is signed by the Chief General Manager, Brij Raj.
The extension reflects the RBI’s continued supervisory oversight of Sri Guru Raghavendra Sahakara Bank Niyamitha, maintaining the existing regulatory framework while providing additional time for the bank to address supervisory concerns.
