Banking and Credit
The Reserve Bank of India has issued a further extension of the directive originally dated 06 October 2025, which initially provided a six‑month operational period ending 07 April 2026. That directive was subsequently extended to 07 October 2026. Under the present extension, the directive will remain in force for an additional three months, now expiring at the close of business on 07 January 2027, subject to review. No other terms or conditions of the original directive have been altered.
Regulatory and Policy Measures
The extension is made under the powers conferred by sub‑section (1) of Section 35A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949. The RBI expressly notes that the extension and any modification should not be interpreted as an indication that the RBI is satisfied with the financial position of Sadbhav Nagrik Sahakari Bank Maryadit. All other provisions of the original directive continue to apply unchanged. The communication is signed by Brij Raj, Chief General Manager, and issued as a press release.
The RBI’s action reflects its continued supervisory oversight of the cooperative bank, ensuring that operational restrictions remain in place while allowing the bank additional time to address the concerns that prompted the original directive.
