Regulatory Clarification

This document serves as a clarification regarding ECL (Expected Credit Loss) framework data previously provided in the Bank's Investor/Analyst presentation dated October 26, 2026 (Ref.No.TMB.SE.83/2026-27).

The Bank clarifies that an amount of ₹304.24 crore provided towards the estimated ECL requirement of ₹385 crore represents proactive provisioning rather than a regulatory shortfall. This calculation was based on the Bank's advances portfolio as of September 30, 2026.

ECL Framework Implementation Timeline

The ECL framework becomes applicable only from April 1, 2027, as per RBI regulations. The impact of ECL implementation is eligible for recognition either through retained earnings or phased over five years starting from FY28.

Voluntary Provisioning Strategy

Tamilnad Mercantile Bank has voluntarily recognized nearly 80% of the estimated ₹385 crore requirement well ahead of the regulatory timeline. This action reflects the Bank's prudent and proactive approach to strengthening balance sheet preparedness and mitigating future earnings impact.
